On March 17, 2020, the initial Primary Day for State of Ohio elections, Dr. Najoli announced his Independent Candidacy for the 2020 Commissioner role. Follow the link below for the full-text speech: “Come to the Table”.
Book to be Published
Dr. Najoli’s fourth book, ‘Public Servants in Government, Education, and Nonprofit Sectors’, will be published in the month of April 2020.
Updates – The Sling
At the next Hamilton County Board of Elections regular meeting following the Primary (May meeting), Dr. Najoli will be certified as an Independent candidate for Commissioner.
Stay at Home Extended
As of April 6, 2020 the stay-at-home order has been extended to May 1. Friends of Najoli continue to explore ways to have a solid campaign in this historic run.
230- Mile Run Suspended
As part of his 2020 Campaign, Dr. Najoli intends to run230 miles on weekdays in every zip-code of the county to symbolize the 230-year historical attainment. This is suspended due to stay-at-home.
Coronavirus – Covid 19
As of March 21, 2020, our 230-day campaign is surprised by the developments from the pandemic yet hopeful for normalcy.
On March 14, 2020 the Friends of Najoli team had it’s Prayer Breakfast in anticipation of being certified to be on the ballot.
First Campaign Meeting
On March 7, 2020 the Friends of Najoli team had it’s first campaign meeting to discuss the blueprint, define activities, and plan
Campaign Committee Selected
As of March 1, 2020 additional individuals are being sought for the official campaign committee. We have a treasurer, chief of staff, and campaign manager.
On February 18, 2020 our dear friend Patricia Scott, a cost accountant at a fantastic organization, agreed to serve as Campaign Treasurer.
Board of Elections Phone Call
On February 10, 2020, Dr. Najoli receives a call from the Board of Elections informing him that he has enough signatures and will be certified on March 18.
On January 15, 2020 (Dr. MLK Jr’s birthdate) Dr. Najoli submits double the required signatures on a symbolic 230 pages to run as the first Independent ever for Hamilton County Commissioner .
Nominating Committee Developed
On May 1, 2019 five individuals were selected as the nominating committee for the 2020 signature collection drive.
Petition Packet Pickup
On April 24, 2019 Dr. Herman Najoli picked up his petition packet for a second shot at collecting signatures for General Election ballot access in the 2020 Commissioner race after not gaining enough in 2018.

Most Signatures Ever Submitted
The Friends of Najoli campaign has submitted more than 9,000 signatures over a two-year period – most likely the most ever by a single candidate inour County’s history.
A Groundbreaking Candidate
Originally from Kenya, Dr. Najoli is a first-generation American citizen and perhaps the first American of Kenyan descent to ever run for political office in the United States.
